What is a Route Object?

A Route Object is important for a few reasons. First, it specifies the ASN that propagates the IP prefix to the entire Internet in the Internet Routing Registry. Second, a Route Object provides information about the organization that advertises the prefix.

Why do you need a Route Object?

Internet Service Providers use Route Objects to validate the route information. This helps stop malicious parties from hijacking your IP addresses.

Who can change Route Objects?

The owner or the person who has the right to change the information in RIR can change Route Objects.
