IPXO welcomes Alasdair McKenzie to its Advisory Board to help strengthen the company’s long-term focus on governance, international operations, and global infrastructure strategy.

New Advisory Board Member

As the internet infrastructure industry becomes increasingly global, the legal and regulatory complexity surrounding it continues to grow as well. Cross-border IP transactions, governance frameworks, compliance obligations, and international operational risks are becoming more important for infrastructure companies operating at scale.

To support this area, IPXO has welcomed Alasdair McKenzie to its Advisory Board.

Alasdair is currently a Partner at Addleshaw Goddard, where he focuses on cross-border transactions and international finance matters. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade at international law firms including Gowling WLG and Allen & Overy LLP, advising corporations, private equity funds, and financial institutions on complex domestic and international transactions.

His experience across international finance, governance, and cross-border legal frameworks brings valuable perspective to IPXO’s Advisory Board as the company continues expanding its global infrastructure operations and navigating an increasingly complex international environment.

The IP address ecosystem has changed significantly over the past decade.

IPv4 scarcity transformed addresses into strategic infrastructure assets, while increasing international demand introduced greater operational and regulatory complexity. Today, infrastructure providers often operate across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously, each with different legal expectations, compliance requirements, and governance frameworks.

As a result, legal considerations are no longer isolated operational tasks. They increasingly influence how infrastructure businesses scale, structure agreements, manage risk, and maintain trust internationally.

This is particularly relevant in areas such as:

  • international IP address transfers
  • cross-border infrastructure operations
  • governance and compliance requirements
  • contractual frameworks across regions
  • long-term infrastructure risk management

A long-term perspective on infrastructure and governance

One of the reasons IPXO values Alasdair McKenzie’s perspective is the growing overlap between infrastructure, governance, and international business operations.

Internet infrastructure companies no longer operate only within technical boundaries. Decisions related to routing, resource management, partnerships, and compliance increasingly carry international implications. In many cases, infrastructure strategy and legal strategy now evolve together.

This is especially important as digital infrastructure becomes more interconnected globally. Regulatory approaches continue to evolve across regions, while organizations are expected to maintain transparency, operational stability, and accountability at the same time.

For infrastructure companies, governance is becoming part of long-term operational resilience rather than simply a compliance requirement.

Supporting long-term trust in the global IP ecosystem

As the IP market matures, trust and transparency continue to become more important across the industry.

Organizations managing internet infrastructure are expected not only to operate efficiently, but also to demonstrate consistency in how resources are governed, transferred, and managed internationally. This requires balancing operational flexibility with increasingly complex legal and regulatory expectations.

In this environment, experienced legal guidance plays an important role in helping infrastructure companies navigate international complexity while maintaining long-term stability.

Looking ahead

Alasdair McKenzie’s addition to the Advisory Board reflects IPXO’s continued investment in long-term expertise around governance, international operations, and the future of internet infrastructure.

As the industry continues to evolve, the intersection between infrastructure, regulation, and global operations will only become more important. Strengthening strategic expertise in these areas helps ensure that infrastructure businesses can continue operating with clarity, stability, and long-term perspective.

IPXO looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Alasdair and working together on the challenges shaping the future of the global IP ecosystem.
